About Cummins Family Produce
famous idaho potatoes

Idaho is world famous for potato production. The fertile soil, warm summer days and cool summer nights create the perfect conditions to grow the best potato. The Cummins Family tradition of growing premium Idaho potatoes began with Edward Cummins when he moved from Missouri in 1932 and broke ground in Southern Idaho.

Over the last 76 years our family has worked hard to maintain and expand that tradition. Today, the third and fourth generations of the Cummins family continue this proud tradition of growing great Idaho potatoes.

Recently acquiring a fresh potato packing plant, has allowed us to market our product directly to the public. Our most common labels are First Prize, and First Choice-Canyon Rim. From the time our potatoes are planted in the fields to the time they are shipped to our customers, careful attention is paid to each step along the way. Our potatoes are planted in mid-April, and will grow and mature throughout the summer until they are ready to harvest in September.

The potatoes are harvested and either transported directly to our packing plant, or to one of several storage facilities. Once at the plant, the potatoes go through a series of quality inspections and rigorous washing cycles. The potatoes are then packaged according to size and quality and shipped out across the country. The special attention paid to each step in the process transfers into a great tasting potato.
